Pleasant conversations

I tend to view many math books as pleasant conversations, albeit one-sided, as we cannot talk back to the author(s).

But in reading many math texts, as I certainly have done, it becames clear that the author or authors are viewing this in part as a conversation, where they in their prefaces talk in personal terms.
